SISC Organizes Space Camp for Children affected by Chernobyl Accident
The Society for International Space Cooperation in association with the Children of Chernobyl Program and The Belarus Society held a summer Space Camp for the 80 children brought to the Washington D.C. area for the summer to receive medical and other treatment. SISC also arranged a behind the scenes tour of the NASA Goddard Spaceflight Center and the Neutral Buoyancy Test Facility at the University of Maryland where many robotic craft are tested before being launched to the Planets. The kids also got a chance to touch one of the Apollo astronauts spacesuits that was used on the surface of the Moon. New Board Members:
Ralf Huber, Head of the Washington Office for the German Aerospace Center (DLR) joins the Board.

Dr. Lawrence DeLucas, former Astronaut and current Director, Center for Macromolecular Crystallography, University of Alabama at Birmingham

Alexander Serebrov, former Cosmonaut and Space Policy Advisor to the Russian Government joins the SISC Board of Directors.

The Society for International Space Cooperation is pleased to welcome James Cameron, Producer, Director, and Writer of such films as Titanic, Terminator 2, True Lies, and an upcoming series about Mars to its Board of Directors. Mr. Cameron brings a lifelong interest in Space and Exploration to the Society as well as a unique understanding of the ways humans interact with each other regardless of locale.

Space Party 1999 Internet Broadcast:
SISC provided a live lecture, audio and video, by Adriana Ocampo about her work on planetary impacts of asteroids in Mexico which may have caused the extinction of the dinosaurs. The lecture was broadcast live via the Internet using Quicktime 4.0 and the Sorenson Broadcaster and will be the first of many events SISC will conduct worldwide. Space Commercialization Workshop:
SISC will conducted an International Space Corps Program, for the Third Annual Space Commercialization Workshop to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, August 23-24, 1999.
